Tay Jardine Interview

how was the band formed?
erm we formed about 3 years ago kind of just on chance its was a studio project and we had 2 songs on the internet, on myspace. We were all in different bands and i don't know it just all came together like really fast and we decided to keep on moving.

Alright so where did the name WATIC come from?

er, we were originally just the in crowd and that name came from a childrens book that i had when i was younger and one day i had a yard sale at my house and i saw the book and i was like oh we should name the band that so we just went with it and kept it but we had to add the We Are because the name was copy writed by another band, so we just added it on there.

How would you describe your music?

erm well if nobody has ever heard our band before i'd say we're like a  pop punk/ pop rock band and its just really fun music its music you could listen to pretty much anywhere!

What did it feel like when the band was contacted by Hopeless Records?

we were really excited i remember not believeing that it was true i remember being really excited, yea we were really stoked. we were all big fans of the record so it was so awesome.

alright so i've read online that you guys have opened for bands such as Hey Monday and Cartel, what does that feel like?

erm its awesome we became really good friends with all those bands so its cool its good to be on the road to people that you look up to and later on become good friends with. so its awesome!

so you're album is titled best intentions, where did the title come from?

erm Cameron our guitar player actually came up with that title and er basically the writing process and what we had gone throught int he last year, it just fit. we just tried everything with our best intentions. Alot of times its like being a teenager you go through growing pains and you learn things the hard way sometimes.

You know you guys are really famous in Malaysia, you're song Kiss Me Again is #1 on Fly fm's Fly30! what do you think about that?
yea i heard about that, its awesome. we're really excited. first of all we've never had a number 1 single ever so it makes us even more excited to come there and see the fans.

Does touring ever get boring?
noooo, never!

What's the best thing about touring?

i think probably just seeing new places and meeting new people, oh and trying new food!

does the band have any pre-show rituals?
oh erm not really i mean we do have our own little chant that we do and err, erm, erm it doesn't raelly make any sense other than that just warming up.

Have you ever been to asia before?

Yes we were actually in Singapore and Indonesia so we're really excited to come to Malaysia on this trip.

Have you ever heard anything about Malaysia?

erm actually i think the band that we toured with last time Oh Chentaku, i remember them telling me the fans are way crazier than in Indonesia and Singapore. they said that we shoud really be excited.

What do you think the future holds in store for we are the in crowd?

erm i'm not really sure, whatever happens we just kind of talk about it as like we just want to keep doing it until we're not happy anymore. as long as we're happy we wanna keep doing it.

Travis Clark interview 2012

how was the band formed?
i went to go see my favourite band play then i went home and called my best friends and we just formed we the kings so we could get girlfriends because we were amazed at how cool Green Day and Blink 182 was and we thought that it would be a great start to get girlfriends.

Where did the name We the Kings come from?
the name we the kings comes from the name of our school when we were kids, it's called Kings middle school.

How would you describe your music?

fun and entertaining and positive and i think when alot of people listen to our music they feel like they're at a party or like they're in their car like a convertable or like with their windows down.

When did Charles Trippy start playing with the band?
he started playing about 8 months ago but i've been a friend of his since we were little kids.

How does it feel having a Youtuber in your band?
err, its awesome! its great that he can show everybody a different side of the band.

Where did the title Sunshine State of Mind come from?
erm the title came from, er well in Florida they call it the Sunshine state, and err we kinda wanted a CD title which reminded us of home.

What did it feel like when you won best punk pop artist in the 2008 rock on request awards
?
That was awesome! that was our first award that we've ever won, its amazing to be submitted for awards like that.

Does touring ever get boring for you?
no it doesn't. sometimes it get exhausting and sometimes you miss home but its amazing to wake up in a different city everyday.

What's the best thing about touring?
i get to meet all the fans and i get to tell them how awesome they are and how much i appericiate how much they want our CD or came to our show.

Does the band have any pre-show rituals?
erm not really we all just try to listen to alot of music and get really pumped up before the show, we also have a chant that we do before we go on stage but nothing too crazy.

Have you ever been to asia before?
yes, we've been to the philipines and er we went to Jakarta in Indonesia we've been to Japan and all the time that we went there we loved it its absolutely incredible to be going there. we cannot wait to come back!

Are you excited to come to Malaysia?
yea  i am, alot of people have contacted me on twitter and said how excited they are for the show and one of our songs sayylm is number 2 so that's very cool as well

What do you think the future holds in store for WTK?
i hope we'd be able to record more cds and continue touring to all the parts of the world we haven't been to yet and hopefully one day putting out a greatest hit record!
